Second opinion

New employee arrives at this division and, as per usual procedure, she's issued a used MacBook Pro, reports a pilot fish on the scene.

"Months into her use, she complained that her computer was acting sluggish and she was demanding a new one," fish says. "We examined her laptop and, to our surprise, could not replicate any of her mystery problems.

"But we did recommend that she repair her disk permissions and explained how this can help some of her sporadic issues.

"She stormed off yelling that she would call her old IT department because the Apple Certified techs here did not know squat. We heard quite a bit of her rants that day.

"A few days later we ran into her again and politely asked what her old wiz IT guys said. Their advice: 'Repair disk permissions.'

"She never got a new MacBook Pro."
